Version 8 works as expected, without the UI input sluggishness. If I do that, it's good, but it breaks my backup system model that I've used for years: apps first, backup, drivers last (most likely to be changed).Īh well, I've pretty much quit using it.
#What is sound forge 8 install
The workaround turned out to be that I have to install SF 9.0c AFTER I've installed the audio drivers AND configured 9.0a to use them. The software enables hi-res audio recording, one touch and timestamp recording, audio file conversion and normalization, customizable user interfaces, and more. SF 9 has no such dialog on my system, and attempting to change the audio preferences crashes the app (when I click "preferences" actually). SOUND FORGE by MAGIX is a professional audio editing platform for recording, editing and mastering audio. I think they dropped the ball on this one. I cant figure out whats going on with Sony Creative Software. For the time being I guess Ill stick with 8 and hope that they fix the sluggishness in a future update. In fact, SF8 would pop up a dialog stating that my system drivers had changed, and prod me to set the preferences. Sound Forge is such a great program and I had high hopes for version 9 but I find it unusable. SF8 was always fine with this, but SF9 is not. I install drivers last on my system, so whenever I install application patches, I restore a backup copy of the system BEFORE driver installation, update the apps, and then load the drivers, and then configure my apps for those drivers. I finally realized it was because I applied the update before installing my EMU drivers. It would crash when I opened preferences, and it would crash when I tried to add toolbars. My copy of SF 9.0a also became completely corrupted after installing the 9.0c update.

so long I'll think it isn't working, so I'll click it again, which takes seconds to process. I'll click record, and it will sit there. I don't mean its slower at processing audio, I mean it's slower in processing its UI input.įor example, if I want to record audio (I'm doing some tape-to-cd restoration stuff), the record settings dialog is painfully slow. In fact, it's considerably slower in responding to user input.
